What is the difference that makes the difference consistently between the success and unsuccessful man? Note that for the purpose of the article the word man could mean also woman… indeed any person that is interested in the success discipline.
According to the article by Robert Collier, author of Secret of the Ages, Chapter XV, The Master of Your Fate; page 131:
“The different between the successful man and the unsuccessful one is not so much a matter of training or equipment. It is not a question of opportunity or luck.
It is just in the way they each look at things.
“The successful man sees an opportunity, seizes upon it, and moves upward another rung on the ladder of success. It never occurs to him that he may fail. He sees only the opportunity, he visions what he can do with it, and all the forces within and without him combines to help him win.
“The unsuccessful man sees the same opportunity, he wishes that he could take advantage of it, but he is fearful that his ability or his money or his credit may not be equal to the task. He is like a timid bather, putting in one foot and then drawing it swiftly back again – and while he hesitates some bolder spirit dashes in and beats him to the goal.”
As you can see from the above the main difference between the successful and unsuccessful man is the way they each look at things.
What does this really mean in the scheme of things?
It is a quest of attitude; your attitude precedes your behavior. Do you have a positive or negative mental attitude?
According to Christina D. Larson “When man thinks that he will succeed, the predominant impression is the idea of success. All thought must therefore contain the elements of success, and the forces that can produce success, and he himself will become thoroughly saturated with the very life of success.”
What about do you have success consciousness or failure consciousness? You have the choice to choose your thoughts and reap the benefits thereof.
I’ll leave you with this quote from Andrew Carnegie written by the American steel magnate and who commissioned Napoleon Hill to write book, Think and Grow Rich.
“There is power under your control that is greater than poverty, greater than lack of education, greater than your fears and superstitions combined. It is the power to take possession of your mind and direct it to whatsoever ends you may desire.”
But I suggest that this desire should be right desire. What then is right desire and how will you find it?
I’ll leave you with the best success secret from the Creator of the Universe – God Almighty which he gave to Joshua the Son after the death of Moses.
“This book of the law shall not depart out thy mouth: but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shall make thy way prosperous and have good success (Joshua 1: 8).
